Quincy Fry Dowdy

FLORENCE "QUINCY" FRY DOWDY, age 87, of Baldwin, Georgia, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Dowdy was born on January 28, 1922 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Wiley Houston and Mary Leona Gastley Fry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne Donald Dowdy, Sr., her sisters, Ruth Browne and Inez Garner, as well as her brothers, Roger Fry and George Fry. Mrs. Dowdy was a homemaker and was formerly employed with Cornelia Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Clerk with 47 years of dedicated service. Survivors include: Her daughters: Mary Ann McDonald, Duluth, GA; Elizabeth Kay Jones, Mt. Airy, GA; Deborah Belle Dowdy, Cleveland, GA; Julia Lynn Rogers, Cornelia, GA; her sons: Dwayne Donald Dowdy, Jr., Columbus, GA; Thomas Andrew Dowdy, Baldwin, GA; her sisters: Madge Lounel Shaw, Martinez, GA; her grandchildren: Lisa McDonald Bingham, Jill McDonald Batson, Gus McDonald, Amy McDonald Hoffman, Keith Pitts, Brad Pitts, Jake Dowdy, Miles Dowdy, Katherine Dowdy, Beth Rogers Demore, Becky Rogers, Andrea Rogers, and Austin Saxon; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009 from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Furman Lewis and Rev. Brian James officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia from 5 until 8 p.m. on Saturday.
