Porter Welborn

Porter Welborn, age 90, of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Mr. Welborn was born in White County, Georgia on February 22, 1922; to the late James Franklin and Laura Nichols Welborn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Ivie Welborn, great-grandson, Riker Sanchez, five sisters, and five brothers. Mr. Welborn was a United States Army WWII Veteran. He was a retired Letter Carrier with 25 years of service. Mr. Welborn was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Jim Robinson, Braselton, GA; two grandchildren and spouses, Sonya and Gary Sanchez, Ward and Anika Robinson and three great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, September 24, 2012, from Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
