Ollie "Marie" Erwin Thompson Tench, age 88, of the Mud Creek Community, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011. Mrs. Tench was born in Habersham County, Georgia on February 21, 1923. She was the daughter of the late John Candler Erwin and Margie Morris Erwin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, JC Thompson, and she was the widow of Bryant Tench, son-in-law, Victor Wiley, sisters, Caroline Watkins, Maybelle Ivie, Fannie Tilson, Pauline Batson and Louvenie Simmons brothers, Lewis, Coleman, Homer, Ernest, and Ray Erwin and a grandson, Neal Wilbanks. Mrs. Tench was a long time member at Mud Creek Baptist Church until she transferred her membership to Northside Baptist Church when as a widow, she remarried. She lived on a farm where she enjoyed the outdoors and her interests included cooking, gardening, singing, playing the piano and guitar, and spending time raising her children and grandchildren. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Herman Wiley, Cornelia, GA Patricia Wiley Bell and James Bell, Cornelia, GA Elaine and Mike Henry, Cornelia, GA June and Jimmy Mize, Demorest, GA Susan and Dennis Ivey, Cleveland, GA and Jeannie and Clayton Burrell, Cornelia, GA; sister, Ethel Ivester Smith, Cornelia, GA; 16 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2011, at Mud Creek Baptist Church with Michael Garrison and Rev. Chad Parker officiating. Interment will follow in B.C. Grant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011, Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
