OLIVE KISER TEAL, age 99 of Clarkesville, GA, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010 after an extended illness. Mrs. Teal lived the American Dream. She was born into a dirt-floored Kansas dugout on December 7, 1910 to the late Jay and Dessie Kiser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett A. Teal, and her three sisters, Arrawanna Kiser, Jesse Opal Fraser and Martha J. Neff. Olive married Everett A. Teal in May of 1934 and they were married for 58 years living most of their lives together in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While living in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Teal was president of the Bethlehem Chapter of American Association of University Women and President of the Lehigh University Women's Club. She graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 1933 where she received a B.S. degree in education. Mrs. Teal taught high school Latin and English in Lebanon, Indiana. She was president of Delta Sigma Athleta Sorority while at Ball State University and a member of Alpha Phi Gamma Sorority. Years later, she attended Columbia University. Mrs. Teal enjoyed playing the piano and entertaining friends with her daughter Ruth. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Jack Jacobi, Baldwin, GA; son, Thomas A. Teal, Breckenridge, Colorado; 5 grandchildren, John, Craig and Jim Jacobi, Metro Atlanta area, Andrew and James Teal of Breckenridge, Colorado; 9 great-grandchildren, Jill, Jamie, Julia, Jake, James Madison, Olivia Paige, Sarah, Kathyrn (Katie) and Emily Jacobi; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial and musical tribute service will celebrate her life on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, GA with Rev. David Turner officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Mary Turner, Ms. Heather Strachan, Mr. David Jones and the Chettas family. Interment will be held at the Nisky Hill Cemetery in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where she will be with her husband. No visitation will be held.
