Odell Stamey

ODELL STAMEY, age 86, of Braselton, Georgia passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. Mr. Stamey was born on September 19, 1923, in Demorest, GA to the late Marlow and Lillie Martin Stamey. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Gary Stamey; brother, Garnett Stamey; and sister, Marie Stewart. Mr. Stamey attended Demorest Methodist Congregational Federated Church. He retired from and was the owner of Stamey Plumbing Company. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Doris T. Stamey, Braselton, GA; daughter, Carolyn Miller, Powder Springs, GA; son, Harold Stamey, Whitesburg, GA; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Joyce Acree, Rev. Jerry Hewatt, and Rev. Paul Flynn officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Chris York officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
