Odell James

Odell James Nix, age 90, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2020. Mr. Nix was born on February 21, 1930 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Barney and Nancy Amy Tomlin Nix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Willoree Chapman Nix; and sister, Marcelle Nix Miller. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Nix was a United States Army Veteran having served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Clarkesville Mill, serving there for 34 years. Mr. Nix enjoyed gardening and tending to his flowers; he and his wife, Willoree were known for their seasonal decorations. Odell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known to his grandchildren as "Papa". Survivors included his sons, Ansel J. Nix, of Cornelia; Ricky L. Nix and the late Lynn Rothell Nix, of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Charles Harris, of Cleveland; Rhonda and Doug Fowler, of Demorest; half-brother, Cleve Allen, of Mt. Airy; brother-in-law, Garnett Chapman, of Carlton; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Due to the concerns around COVID-19, the family will have a Private Graveside Service in concern for the well being of family and friends.
