Norman C. York

NORMAN C. YORK, age 88, of Cornelia, GA, died Thursday, August 3, 2006 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. York was born on August 10, 1917 in Franklin County, Georgia to the late Robert and Jamie Wood York. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Hill York, a son, Sonny York, brothers, Dick, Grady, and Corbett York, as well as a sister Birthene Dorminey. Mr. York was a member of the Cornelia First Baptist Church and the Southern Baptist Men's Class at his church. He was the retired Owner of York's Construction Company with 30 years of service. Survivors include: his daughter and son-in-law: Joy and Jim Scharnagel, Gainesville, GA; his daughter: Linda Y. Foster, Cornelia, GA; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2006 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Rev. Greg Walton officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.
