Nellie Ivie Tench

NELLIE IVIE TENCH, age 86, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Mrs. Tench was born in Habersham County, Georgia on June 10, 1925, to the late William G. and Nina Saville Ivie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Fricks, Eva Mae Ivie, and Virginia Harrison, and a brother, Freeman Ivie. Mrs. Tench retired from Ethicon as a supervisor with 23 years of dedicated service and formerly employed with Chicopee Manufacturing and Habersham Mills. She was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church. Survivors include a loving husband of 64 years, Dewey H. Tench, Cornelia, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Marcus and Lynn Tench, Michael and Kathleen Tench, all of Demorest, GA and Lowell and Brenda Tench, Cornelia, GA; sister, Janette Garrison, Cornelia, GA; sister-in-law, Leora Ivie, Cornelia, GA; five grandchildren, Allison Becker, Austin Tench, William Tench, Meryl Tench and Elizabeth Tench and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Jack Summers, Rev. Jay Hughes and Rev. Chris York officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012, from Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
