Nellie Mae Evans Davenport Turpin

NELLIE MAE EVANS DAVENPORT TURPIN, age 86, of Mt. Airy, GA, died Monday, February 27, 2006 at the Habersham County Medical Center. Mrs. Turpin was born on September 17, 1919 in Banks County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late John Marion and Ida Mae Standridge Evans and was also preceded in death by her husbands, John Davenport and Gus Turpin, as well as brother, Giles Evans and sisters, Edna Bell Emmett and Bertha Bowles. Mrs. Turpin was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker. Survivors include: Daughters, Annette Davenport Demore and Janice Turpin, both of Mt. Airy, GA; Sister-in-law: Ruth Evans, Lula, GA; Grandchildren: Lisa Demore Tompkins and husband Joe, Covington, GA; Jennifer Demore Smith and husband, Matthew, Kennesaw, GA; Great-granddaughter, Michelle Tompkins, Covington, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Flat UM Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
