Neal Ausburn

Robert Neil Ausburn, age 60 of Demorest, GA, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at BJC Medical Center. Mr. Ausburn was born in Stephens County, GA on June 14, 1947 to the late Dorsey and Evelyn Hicks Ausburn. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam Conflict, retired from the U.S. Army Reserve. Mr. Ausburn retired as a uniform patrol Sgt. with the Banks County Sheriff's office, and formerly served as Major with The Baldwin Police Department. Survivors include, his wife, Verena Brown Ausburn, Cornelia, GA, daughter& son-in-law, Kenree & Michael Sampson, Cornelia, GA, son, Cale Ausburn, Cornelia, GA, sister, Nan Holleyman, Lakeland, FL, brother, Brian Ausburn, Clarkesville, GA, two nieces & one nephew. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Charles Chapman, and Rev. Luther Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Morris officiating and full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post # 84 and Rabun County DAV Chapter 15. The family will receive friends from 6-9pm on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
