Myrna Joyce Morris

MYRNA JOYCE MORRIS, age 69, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Atlanta Medical Center from a sudden illness. Mrs. Morris was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 30, 1943, to the late Virgil and Louise Cranfield Morris. She was a United States Army Veteran, who served during the Vietnam Conflict. Mrs. Morris retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include daughter, Joyce "Missy" Lin Long, Louisiana; sister and brother-in-law, Virgil L. and Emmett Stephenson, Alto, GA; brother, Charles Morris, Kansas City, MO; one granddaughter, Kayla Lynn Long; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Entombment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the National Guard, the American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, and the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the funeral service.
