Minnie Mae Wood Hames

MINNIE MAE WOOD HAMES, age 90, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Mrs. Hames was born on July 13, 1923 in Habersham County, Georgia; daughter of the late Mont and Lillie Mae Morgan Wood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude A. "Pat" Hames; brothers, Ed Wood, Swain Wood, Bill Wood, Floyd Wood and granddaughter, Sara Stephanie Jackson. Mrs. Hames was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Gail Rucker, Mt. Airy; Rebecca Joy Hames, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Beth Hames-Knott and David Knott, Lawrenceville; son-in-law, Hugh Rucker, Clarkesville; sisters, Lillie Merle Frye, Demorest, Lucille Anderson, Demorest; grandchildren, Jackie McLain, Megan Cleveland, Lannie Adams, Ashley Rucker; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Furman Lewis and Dr. Butch Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest Georgia.
