Michael Vernon Murray, age 63, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Mr. Murray was born on March 18, 1953 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Levis and Elvedia Cruz Murray. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne Burrell. Mr. Murray was a member of B. C. Grant Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Rev. Scott Smith, Cornelia, GA, Tabitha and Stephen Lumpkin, Mt. Airy, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kelley Murray, Demorest, GA; sister, Janice Crane, Mt. Airy, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Donnie McCallister, Carnesville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Geri Murray, Cornelia, GA; ten grandchildren. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
