Melvin Eugene Higgins

MELVIN EUGENE HIGGINS, age 60, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Stephens County Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Higgins was born on September 21, 1952, in Clarkesville, Georgia; son of the late Ferd and Lula Martin Higgins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gail Morris Higgins; sisters, Martha "Mot" Garner and Betty "Sweet Pea" Farmer; brothers, Frank "Buddy" Higgins, Royce Higgins, Billy Higgins, Donald Higgins, and Bobby Higgins; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Higgins was formerly employed with Rebel Chevron. Survivors include his son, Ricky Higgins, Cornelia, GA; sister, Peggy Payne, Baldwin, GA; and brothers, Preston Higgins, Eatonton, GA and Johnny Higgins, Lincolnton, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Elder Terrell Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the funeral home.
