MARY LEE IVESTER TURPIN, age 89, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011, at her residence, following an extended illness. Mrs. Turpin was born on February 28, 1921, in Stephens County, Georgia to the late Moses and Mary Fry Ivester. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jefferson Turpin, daughter, Betty Sue Turpin, brothers, William, Reno, Newt, and Ernest Ivester, sister, Zuella Stancil, and one great-grandson, Cody Evans. Mrs. Turpin was retired from the Carwood Manufacturing Company with over 30 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Shirley Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janie S. and Henry Miller, Clarkesville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Betty Joe Turpin, Ball Ground, GA and Charles and Pat Turpin, Lula, GA; son, David Turpin, Clarkesville, GA; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Austin Ivester officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Turnerville, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
