Mary Dodd Hopkins

Mary Dodd Hopkins, age 86, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016. Mrs. Hopkins was born on June 28, 1929, in Banks County, Georgia, to the late Travis and Ester Coley Dodd. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Lee McClellan, Sr. and a widow of Ernest Hopkins. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Lee McClellan, Jr.; son-in-law, Eddie Lee Thomas; brothers, David, Henry, and Wilky Dodd; and sister, Jean Stewart. Mrs. Hopkins was a homemaker and attended Pine Grove Congregational Holiness Church. Survivors include her daughter: Diane McClellan Thomas, Gainesville, GA; son: Jessie McClellan, Lula, GA; sister: Lillian Dodd, Alto, GA; brothers: Thurston Dodd, Melton Dodd, and Dennis Dodd all of Alto, GA; grandchildren: Jeff Thomas, Wanda McClellan, and Michelle Murry; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A private burial for Mrs. Hopkins was held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, Georgia 30605-3007.
