Marvin E. Dean

MARVIN E. DEAN, age 81, of Hwy 115 East, Cleveland, GA, died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at a private care facility. Mr. Dean was born on November 19, 1924 in White County, Georgia to the late Wiley M. and Maybelle Thompson Dean. He was a United States Army World War II veteran having served in the South Pacific in the 43rd Infantry; there he earned and received The Purple Heart medal. Mr. Dean was a retired employee of Schnadig Furniture Manufacturing with 32 years of service. He was a long-time member of the Chattahoochee Baptist Church. Mr. Dean was an avid golfer and had a deep love for his community. Survivors include: his wife: Bonnie Lee Mote Dean, Cleveland, GA; Brothers: Fred W. Dean, Cleveland, GA; Joe Dean, Gainesville, GA; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2006 from the Chattahoochee Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Hefner, Rev. Bill Gravley, and Rev. J. R. Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Mr. Dean will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. on Monday to lie in state until the funeral hour. ARRANGEMENTS ARE IN THE CARE OF WHITFIELD FUNERAL HOME, SOUTH CHAPEL, BALDWIN, GEORGIA.
