MARTHA JEAN "MICKEY" WHITMIRE, age 62, of Clarkesville, GA, died Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the residence follow an extended illness. Mrs. Whitmire was born on September 11, 1943 in Dawson County, Georgia. She was a daughter of the late William McKinley and Lula Caroline Carnes Whitmire. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Mrs. Whitmire was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: 3 sons: Jeffery Dean Johns, Charlotte, NC; Ralph Joseph Johns, San Francisco, CA: William Ray-Lyn "Johnny" Johns, Florida; 6 sisters: Ellen Jaquline Hammond, Opal Mildred Hammond, Saundra Joy Dixon, Darline Jill Church, and Barbara Lynn Sims, all of Clarkesville, GA; Josephine Dorothy Belle Nix, Dawsonville, GA; 2 brothers: Talmadge Dean Whitmire, Mt. Airy, GA; Gerald Douglas Whitmire, Clarkesville, GA; 2 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2006 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
