Mama Jean Hulsey, age 80, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, following a sudden illness. Mama Jean was born on July 10, 1935, in Clay County, North Carolina, to the late Grady and Carmen Ledford Dayton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wesley Dayton. Ms. Hulsey had served as a restaurant manager with several Cornelia area establishments. She retired from Walmart having served in security. Mama Jean was of the Christian faith. Survivors include her son: Eric Hulsey, Mt. Airy, GA; son and daughter-in-law: Cleve and Debbie Stanfield, Buford, GA; sisters: Gena Hicks, Kennesaw, GA, Billie York, Dalton, GA, Sherry Dayton, Avondale Estates, GA, and Bobbie Bullard, Macon, GA; brother: Roger Dayton, Mt. Airy, GA; sister-in-law: Barbara Dayton, Cornelia, GA; grandchildren: Kevin Stanfield and wife, Holly, Kyle Stanfield and wife, Gwen, Deborah Jean Hulsey, and Eric Hulsey, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, 245 Highway 441 South, Demorest, Georgia, with Pastor Charles Grant and Pastor Bubba Dubois officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Friday, May 27, 2016, at the funeral home.
