Mae "Banksie" Pittman Wilbanks, age 101, of Baldwin, GA, died Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Hill Haven Nursing Home, Commerce, GA Mrs. Wilbanks was born on January 27, 1906 in Hall County, Georgia to the late William and Nancy Bryan Pittman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Albert F. Wilbanks. Mae Wilbanks was a wonderful Mother, her 101 years was a blessing to her family and to everyone who knew her. For many years Mae assisted her husband Albert on their Baldwin Peach Farm, she later got into the Catering business along with being an avid gardener. As Calvin Stovall of Cornelia once stated "Mae Wilbanks could very well be one of the last True Southern Ladies". She was a member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church and she was also Habersham County's oldest member of AARP. Survivors include: her daughter: Eurilla W. Chastain, Cornelia, GA; sons and daughters-in-law: Clyde and Zella Wilbanks, Gainesville, GA, Lamar and Jean Wilbanks, Baldwin, GA: Seven grandchildren, Twelve great grandchildren, and Seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 23, 2007 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA with Paul Chastain and Brent Lord officiating. Burial will follow in B.C. Grant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 PM until 8 PM Friday, June 22, 2007.
