Lurlene Tench Meeks

Lurlene E. Meeks, age 85, of Cornelia, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2017 peacefully at her home. Mrs. Meeks was born on April 19, 1931 in Alto, Georgia to the late Leonard and Margie Tench. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Meeks; brothers, Harold Tench, and Willie Tench; sisters, Mary Wilson, Mae Carter, and Leona Wilson. She was a member of Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church. Mrs. Meeks was a loving wife, mother, and above all a loving NANNY. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Dennis Skaggs, of Cumming; daughter, GeorgeAnne Meeks, of Toccoa; son, Dale Meeks, of Cornelia; grandchildren and spouses, Tawana and Brian Thomas, Audra and Billy Payne; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Scott Ledbetter and Rev. Sanford Kimbrel officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the funeral home.
