Loyd Nelson West

LOYD NELSON WEST, age 91 of Demorest, GA died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at a local medical center. Mr. West was born in Gwinnett County, Georgia on November 28, 1916 to the late Mr. and Mrs. E. Webb and Florence Puckett West. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mullinax West, brother, Eston West, sisters, Zora Knight, and Irene Sexton. He was member of MT. Carmel Baptist Church Mr. West was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran where he served as a Military Policeman. He also worked in a CCC Camp. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills where he worked for several years. He was formerly employed with Edward Flor Saddle Tree Manufacturing Company for several years. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Leon London, Cornelia, GA, daughter, Sylvia Woodall, Cornelia, GA, two sisters, Ruth Kelley, Lithia Springs, GA, Dorothy Wilson, Powder Springs, GA, a sister-in-law, Leota Mullinax, Clarkesville, GA, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA, with Rev. Billy Burrell and Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Clarkesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
