Louise Nix Payne

LOUISE NIX PAYNE, age 67, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at a local hospital. Mrs. Payne was born on August 29, 1941 in White County, Georgia to the late Homer and Bonnie Mae Truelove Nix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Burton. Mrs. Payne was the owner and operator of the Cornelia Plaza Restaurant for 12 years. She also owned and operated Midway Garment and Tal Sportswear. Survivors include: her husband: Tommy J. Payne, Mt. Airy, GA; her daughter and son-in-law: Shelby and Darrell Maxwell, Union Point, GA; her son: Tommy J. Payne, Jr., Mt. Airy, GA; her sisters: Virginia Phillips, Clarkesville, GA; Carolyn Skelton, Mt. Airy, GA; Joyce Jones, Turnerville, GA; Lois Holbrooks, Norcross, GA; Catherine Hobson, Cornelia, GA; her brothers: Richard Nix, Mt. Airy, GA; Robert Nix, Homer, GA; Raymond Nix, Clarkesville, GA; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Terry Rice and Rev. Robert Nix officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
