Loran Mealor

LORAN MEALOR, age 79, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Mealor was born in Banks County, Georgia, on July 27, 1932; son of the late Warren and Bertha Caudell Mealor. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Shelby Jean Seabolt and Eula Mae Cook and his brother, Leroy Mealor. Mr. Mealor was a United States Army veteran having proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Habersham Metal Products with 37 years of loyal and dedicated service. Mr. Mealor was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, fishing, flowers, and his dog. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth Mealor, Demorest, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Tommy Withrow, Demorest, GA and Pam and Gary Wright, Clarkesville, GA; sisters, Merlene Worley and Barbara Dill, both of Homer, GA; brothers, J.C. Mealor, Mt. Airy, GA and Jarvis Mealor, Homer, GA; grandsons, Kyle Withrow and his wife, Megan, and Mark Withrow, all of Demorest, GA; and great-grandsons, Hunter and Easton Withrow, both of Demorest, GA. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Terry Rice and Rev. Tommy Stowe officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter #15, and the Georgia National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012, at the funeral home.
