Lonzo Dodd

Lonzo Dodd, age 89, of Homer, GA, of Monday, October 22, 2007 at an area medical center. Mr. Dodd was born on August 8, 1918 in Banks County, Georgia to the late Silas and Lonie Standridge Dodd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Dodd, three grandchildren, Timothy Dodd, Angela Grier and Wendell Kimsey as well as 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Mr. Dodd was a member of the Yonah C.H. Church. He was a retired sawmiller and logger and during the great depression he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. Survivors include: his wife: Willie C. Masters Dodd, Homer, GA; his daughters: Margaret Shirley, Baldwin, GA; Lynette Reed, Homer, GA; Joann Umberhant, Mt. Airy, GA; Mary Alice Umberhant, Maysville, GA; his son: Harold Dodd, Cornelia, GA; his sisters: Elma Brown, Cornelia, GA; Dorothy Turner, Alto, GA; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 from the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Sanford Kimbrell and Rev. Lester Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. John Umberhant officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
