Lola Mae Payne Tanksley Smith

LOLA MAE PAYNE TANKSLEY SMITH, age 84, of Cornelia, GA died Friday, June 6, 2008 at the residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born in Habersham County, on August 5, 1923 to the late Henry and Florence Parker Payne. She was preceded in death by her first husband Esco Tanksley, her second husband Raymond Smith, two brothers, John Henry Payne and Lincoln Payne. Mrs. Smith was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Janice & Lamar Parker, Cornelia, GA; one son and fiance', Jack Tanksley & Linda Woods, Clayton, GA; two sisters, Betty Goodson, Baldwin, GA; Annie Belle Ivester, Baldwin, GA; two brothers, James Payne, Baldwin, GA; William Payne, Demorest, GA; two grandchildren and spouses, Becky & M.C. Lowe, Alto, GA; Josh & Amber Tanksley, Cornelia, GA; eight great-grandchildren, Johnathan, Justin, and Jay Oxner, all of Cornelia, GA; Jordan Lowe, Alto, GA; Brianna Mandel, Cornelia, GA; Jack Tanksley II, Cornelia, GA; Amanda and Crystal Lowe, Alto, GA. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Donald Wade, Rev. Olivia Christopherson, Rev. William Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.
