Lizzie Myrlene Newsome Caudell

LIZZIE MYRLENE NEWSOME CAUDELL, age 87, of Homer, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 13, 2011, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Caudell was born on December 2, 1923, in Banks County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late A.E. and Minnie Lee Brady Newsome. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Dewey Caudell; brothers, Arzo Newsome and Albert E. Newsome, Jr.; and sisters, Pat Berry, Monteen Lewallen, Laurene "Bob" Whitfield, and Lucille Payton. Myrlene was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. She loved gospel singing, working with flowers, and frying apple pies. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Bobby Wilbanks, Homer, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh D. and Carolyne Caudell, Carnesville, GA, James A. and Becky Caudell, Cleveland, GA, and Stevie M. and Regina Caudell, Homer, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Faye N. and Vermon Wright, Cornelia, GA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Kenneth McEntire and Rev. Roy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chad Payne officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
