Lessie Kimbrell James

LESSIE MAE KIMBRELL JAMES, age 95, of Demorest, Georgia, died Monday, November 17, 2008 at a private care facility. Mrs. James was born on May 15, 1913 in Stephens County, Georgia, to the late James Thomas and Cordilia Carpenter Kimbrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Herman "Boots" Kimbrell, her brothers, Joe, Alonzo, Ben, Messer, Tommy, and Golden Kimbrell as well as her sisters, Mary Crowe, Lena Beck, and Lizzie Paige. Mrs. James was an active member of the Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was a Charter Member of Friends and Family of Faded Footprints, a genealogy group. Mrs. James was a homemaker and an active member of the Habersham Senior Citizens Center. She was the last member of her immediate family. Survivors include: her daughter: Hazel Funk, Mt. Airy, GA; her daughter-in-law: Shirley Kimbrell, Cornelia, GA; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Jack Hicks and Dr. Sam Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
