Leonard Harrison Church

Leonard H. Church, 85, of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. Mr. Church was born June 3, 1935 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Leonard Clinton and Lillian Lila Pitts Church. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mr. Church retired from Clarkesville Mill with over 40 years of dedicated service. His mother was a foster parent for over 25 years, Leonard enjoyed assisting his mother with the daily care of many foster children during those years. He collected teapots for many years, and he enjoyed spending time with his animals. Leonard was a family man, and loved spending as much time as possible with them. Survivors include his sister, Doris Stephens, of Cornelia; niece and her spouse, Sue Burton and Rick, of Cleveland; great-nephew, David Ballew and Brittany, of Cleveland; great niece, Wendy Cain and Stephen, of Clarkesville; great nephews and nieces, Tori, Eli, Emme, and Charlie Cain, of Clarkesville; Mackenzie and Cayden Ballew, of Cleveland; special siblings, Johnny, Louise, Martha, and Shirley. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Leonard's caregivers, Tammara and Nelly. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Dr. Craig Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
