Leon Dennis Nix

Leon Dennis Nix, age 67, of Clarkesville, GA passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Nix was born on October 23, 1942, in Mt. Airy, GA to the late C.C., Sr. and Fannie Ella Samantha Williams Nix. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Wright and Gladys Harper and his brothers, C.C. Nix, Jr., Melvin, and Wayne Nix. Mr. Nix attended Alto Congregational Holiness Church. He was a retired school bus driver with the Habersham County School System, also retired from Mount Vernon Mills. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Barron Nix, Clarkesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Kerry and Colleen Nix, Demorest, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Sharen and Marc Beaulieu, Gray, Maine; sisters, Janelle McCombs and Diann Herrin; brothers, Adger and John Nix; and grandchildren, Jared and Brandon Nix, Gisele, Vincent, Giovanna, and Alexandre Beaulieu. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Tim Beasley officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
