Lee Martin

LEE MARTIN, age 74 of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, following an extended illness at his residence. Mr. Martin was born in Clarkesville, Georgia on November 5, 1937 to the late Walter Lee and Pauline Jarrell Martin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Lee Martin, sister, Betty Smith, brother, Larry Martin. Mr. Martin was a retired farmer with The Fieldale Corporation, and retired from Riegel Textile, (which is now known as Mt. Vernon Mills). He is of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include wife, Thelma Martin, Clarkesville, GA; sons, Doug Martin, Turnerville, GA, and Steven Martin, Mt. Airy, GA; sister, Cathy Clark, Alto, GA; brother, Ross Martin, Cornelia, GA; and three grandchildren, Joseph Martin, Adia Martin and Daniel Martin. Funeral services are schedule for 11 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Tommy Childress officiating. Interment will follow in the Hills Crossing Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarkesville, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
