LEE "DID" ECHOLS, age 86, of Lula, Georgia, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Echols was born on May 3, 1922 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Richard L. and Ida Simmons Echols. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Pierce Echols. Mr. Echols was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II. He was retired from Toccoa Foundry Steel Manufacturing as General Manager with 40 years of service. Survivors include: his daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Larry Smith, Gainesville, GA; his son and daughter-in-law: Sam and Joyce Echols, Lula, GA; his son: Dale Echols, Lula, GA; his sister: Faye Keheley, Atlanta, GA; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008 from the Belton Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Nix and Rev. Paul Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720,and the Rabun County D.A.V.
