LEE BARRETT, age 78, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Barrett was born on December 16, 1934, in Cornelia, Georgia; son of the late Lee Dillard Barrett Sr., and Mattie Ivie Barrett. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Jane Barrett; son, James Dillard Barrett; sisters, Christine Powers, Hazel Bailey and Selma King; brothers, Preston Barrett and Clifford Barrett. Mr. Barrett was a member of Bethesda Fellowship Church. He was a veteran of The United States Air Force, and was a retired self-employed carpet installer. Survivors include his wife, Dorene Barrett, Cornelia; daughters, Carolyn Reece, Marilyn Faulkner and Stormy Bramlett, all of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Roxana and Gerald Black, Cornelia; son, Jerry Barrett, Alto; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Carole Barrett, Baldwin, and Wayne and Carol Barrett, Cornelia; sister, Lucille Chapman, Atlanta; 14 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Terry Benefield and Rev. John Graham officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.
