Laura Ruth Nix Allen

LAURA RUTH NIX ALLEN, age 89, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012. Mrs. Allen was born on June 5, 1923, in Habersham County, Georgia; daughter of the late Ralph and Bertie Taylor Nix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert M. Allen; sister, Lois Philyaw; and brothers, Carl Nix and Robert Nix. Mrs. Allen was a member of New Liberty United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Birdie DeFoor, Jefferson, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis M. and Elaine Allen, Clarkesville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Harrison and Lavalle Nix, Clarkesville, GA; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Charles Shadburn officiating. Interment will follow in New Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012, at the funeral home.
