Kirby Ward

Kirby Ward, age 70, of Mount Airy, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Mr. Ward was born on August 14, 1949 to the late Jerry David "JD" and Rachel Blalock Ward. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Elrod; brother, Steven Ward. Mr. Ward was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church. He worked in Management for Dairy Queen in Calhoun for 21 years. He was a part salesman in the Habersham County area for several years. Kirby was an avid coin collector and also enjoyed working outdoors in his garden. He was known to his grandchildren as "Papa". Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Genevieve Ward, of Mt. Airy; son, Brian Ward, of Clarkesville; Nathan and Tiffany Ward, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Collin, Ashley, Grayson; great-grandson, Brooks; brothers, David Ward and Lorie, of Clarkesville; Milton Ward and Susan, of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Cathy Rogers, of Lula; DeAnn Downer and Jimmy Ayers, of Mt. Airy. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. A Private Family Interment will be held at the Glade Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the funeral home.
