Katie Purdy

Westminster - Katie Palmer Purdy, 91, widow of the late B.E. Purdy, 201 La-Z Acres Road, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012. Born in Leaf, GA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Stella King Palmer. Mrs. Purdy was retired from the US Postal Service and a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Payne and husband Doug of Westminster; brothers, Gerald Palmer of Alto, GA, Ross Palmer of Jonesboro, GA, and Glen Palmer of Stockbridge, GA; sisters, Jane Oakes of Demorest, GA and Carolyn Bailey of Anderson; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, David M. Purdy, Sr. and two infant sons, Keith and Donn Purdy; brothers, Roger, Ken, and Reed Palmer; and sister, Ruth Sosebee. A funeral service will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Demorest, GA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Sandifer Funeral Home. The family is at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Barnibus X Fund, 401 Tabor Road, Westminster, SC 29693.
