Kathleen Varner Mccoy

KATHLEEN VARNER MCCOY, age 95, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at her residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. McCoy was born August 26, 1919 in Banks County to the late Thomas Olin and Maude Segars Varner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) McCoy; sisters Tharra Edwards, Mary Nelle Edwards, Virginia Parks; brothers, Doyle Varner and Felton Varner; and grandson-in-law, Kris Drummond. She was a member of the Cornelia United Methodist Church, and was a newspaper carrier for the Gainesville Times with 33 years of dedicated service. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Benny Overby of Gainesville, GA, Regina and Keith Armour of Cornelia, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Shelia McCoy of Alto, GA; sisters, Betty Jean Gordon and Marguerite Herbert, both of Commerce, GA; grandchildren, Chris Overby of Acworth, GA, Brandi Cammarata of Flowery Branch, GA, Allison Denard of Gainesville, GA, Lindsay Drummond of Homer, GA, Mandi Armour of Cumming, GA, and Brett Armour of Cornelia, GA; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Cornelia United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Reeves VFW Cemetery in Cornelia, GA, with Rev. Hal Cason officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, March 30, 2015 at the funeral home.
