Judy Magdalene Tanksley

Judy M. Anderson Tanksley, age 73, of Cornelia, Georgia went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

Ms. Tanksley was born on August 25, 1950 in the Charm House of Habersham County, Georgia to the late Clarence E. Anderson and Ruby Lee Dickerson Anderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Chad Tanksley and Allison Owen; sisters, Kathleen Anderson, Sue Hicks, Martha Manniko, Lou Ellen Rich; brothers, John Anderson and Joe Anderson. Judy was a devout Christian and member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. She had served as a manager of Stoney's in Clarkesville for over 10 years. Judy will be remembered for her love to help others, her affection toward animals, her knack to make people laugh, and her skills as an amazing cook, known for her fried okra, potato salad, and dressing.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Amy Tanksley, of Cornelia; brothers, Paul Anderson, of Braselton; James Anderson, of Tucker; Harold "Bud" Anderson, of Alto; Simon Anderson, of Mt. Airy; David Anderson, of Cornelia; Daniel Anderson, of Eastanollee; sister, Effie Thompson, of Cumming; numerous nieces and nephews; many friends; and a special niece, Robin Rich.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jamie and Ajia and the rest of the team with Hospice of Northeast Georgia for their thoughtfulness and care shown to Ms. Tanksley.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Larry Ryals officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John B. Gesbocker Animal Shelter, 41 B Toccoa Highway, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
