Mrs. Jonnie Lee Emmett Dalton, age 91, of Homer, GA, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at a private care facility following an extended illness. Mrs. Dalton was born on March 11, 1918 in Banks County, Georgia to the late John and Ruby Guest Emmett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cranford Dalton, her son, Jerry Dalton, her daughter, Carol Dalton, her sisters, June Chesser, Betty Wester, Gladys Westmoreland, and Loutrelle Kesler, as well as her brothers, George, Giles, Wilton, and Baxter Emmett. Mrs. Dalton was a member of the Line Baptist Church where she served as church clerk for many years. She was a member of the Banks County AARP. Mrs. Dalton was a retired school teacher having taught faithfully and proudly for the Banks County School System for over 30 years. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law: Laurell and Howard Ward, Homer, GA; her sisters: Novella Simmons, Baldwin, GA; Bea Roberts, Kennesaw, GA; her grandchildren: Cranley and Joy Ward, Baldwin, GA; Beth Dalton, McDonough, GA; Dennis Dalton, Homer, GA; Dwayne Dalton, Florida; 1 great-grandson: Thomas Ward, Baldwin, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Garry Garrison, Rev. James Franklin, and Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the South Chapel from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
