John Phillip Sims

John Phillip Sims, age 79, of Cornelia, Georgia, went to be with The Lord on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Sims was born on December 7, 1936 in Helen, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Franklin and Leona Birch Sims; brother, Ralph Sims; sisters, Ruth Abbott, Orene Elrod; and Trecie Minish, Margaret Sims, Johnave Burch. Mr. Sims was of the Baptist Faith. He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Sims was retired from Scovill. Survivors include his friend and mother of his children, Brenda Bramlett Sims, of Clayton, GA; daughter, Sheila Sims Hovater, of Cleveland, GA; son, John Mark Sims, of Cornelia, GA; sister, Virginia York, of Cornelia, GA; grandchildren, Kristi Sims Arnot, John Justin Sims; great grandchildren, Kaylie Arnot, Christopher Arnot, John Kylus Sims; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Mr. Gary York officiating.
