John Patrick "John Boy" Waters

JOHN PATRICK "JOHN BOY" WATERS, age 60, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following an extended illness. Mr. Waters was born on March 8, 1953, in Washington, D.C., to the late Earl F. Waters and the late Margaret Adkison Waters Wilbanks. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, J. T. Wilbanks and sister, Mary Waters. He was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Waters was retired from Patterson Pump with 37 years of loyal and dedicated service and was employed part time at the Habersham Hills Cinema from 2005 to 2012. He was an avid Nascar (Ford) fan and motorcycle rider. Mr. Waters enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Fredda Peyton Waters, Cornelia; daughter and fiancé, Allyson Waters and Clayton Franklin, Cornelia; sister, Catherine Boone, Toccoa; brothers, Richard and Norma Waters, Pensacola, Fl., William and Linda Waters, Pensacola, Fl., Earl and Jane Waters, Anderson, S.C.; sister in law and brother in law, Carla and Joe Pitts, Mt. Airy; brother in law and sister in law, Randall and Marcia Peyton, Mt. Airy; grand-dog, Daisy Mae Waters, Cornelia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Glade Creek Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, Georgia with Rick Quarles and Rev. Mike Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Creek Baptist Cemetery. The following men will serve as pallbearers, Terry Metcalf, Tony Carter, Kerry Peyton, Kevin, Peyton, Brad York, Garry Greene, Dank Chapman and Terry Sheriff. Friends from Patterson Pump are to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Glade Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Fund or Cemetery Fund, Northeast Georgia Medical Center Foundation, or to a charity of one's choice.
