John W. Mellon

JOHN W. MELLON, age 82, of Demorest, GA, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at a private care facility following an extended illness. Mr. Mellon was born on May 27, 1924 in Floyd County, GA to the late John and Carrie Mellon. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bob Mellon. Mr. Mellon was a United States Navy World War II veteran. He was a mason and attended the Victory Baptist Church. Mr. Mellon was a truck driver with T. I. M. E. Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Moselle Mellon, Demorest, GA; son and daughter-in-law: Bill and Candy Mellon, Newnan, GA; grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Bryan and April Mellon, Chaska, MN; granddaughter: Alyson Mellon, Newnan, GA; sister: Betty Anderson, Rome, GA. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2006 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Rev. Shane Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. 1:45 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Victory Baptist Church, 1094 Hwy 17, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
