John Garrison Wilbanks

JOHN GARRISON "JAKE" WILBANKS, age 71, of Cornelia, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following an extended illness. Mr. Wilbanks was born in Habersham County, Georgia on July 20, 1939. He was the son of the late Troy John and Margaret Elaine Brookshire Wilbanks. Mr. Wilbanks was a member of Old Nacoochee Missionary Baptist Church and was retired after 30 years in the trucking industry. He loved traveling to hear Gospel music, fixing old cars, and visiting with friends. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Marty Duncan, Cornelia, GA; daughter, Emily Long, Toccoa, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Della Mae and Coleman Allen, Clarkesville, GA; one grandson, Curtis Long, Cornelia, GA; 2 nephews, 3 great-nephews, and one great-niece. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA with Rev. Johnny Brady and Rev. Gerald Adamson officiating. Burial will follow in Demorest City Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Balenger officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA.
