John A. Anderson

JOHN A. ANDERSON, age 77, of Eastanollee, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Stephens County Hospital. Mr. Anderson was born on January 5, 1936, in Habersham County, Georgia; son of the late Clarence E. and Ruby Lee Dickerson Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Sue Hicks, Martha Mannikko, and Kathlean Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a United States Air Force Veteran having proudly served as a medic. He was a retired federal employee in Washington, D.C. with 20 years of service and also taught school for a number of years. Mr. Anderson was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his sisters, Lou Ellen Rich, Baldwin, GA and Judy Tanksley, Cornelia, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Lee and Bill Thompson, Marietta, GA; brother, Harold "Bud" Anderson, Alto, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Polly Anderson, Norcoss, GA, James and Delores Anderson, Tucker, GA, Paul and Theresa Anderson, Flowery Branch, GA, Simon Peter and Janet Anderson, Mt. Airy, GA, David "Andy" and Emily Anderson, Cornelia, GA, and Daniel and Joy Anderson, Eastanollee, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Larry Ryals officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date with military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
