Joe Clarence Gomez

JOE CLARENCE GOMEZ, age 95, Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at a local area hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Gomez was born in Iowa on September 9, 1920. He was a member of the Clarkesville United Methodist Church, and was retired from the US Air Force with 21 years of service, having attained the rank of Tech. Sergeant, E6. Mr. Gomez and his wife, Wilma, owned Mountain Inn Restaurant for a number of years. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Jerry Morgan; step-daughter, Linda Morgan; and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Louise Gibson Gomez; daughters, Barbara Ann Emig of Abilene, Kansas, Gail Ann McDaniel of Maryland, Virginia; and son, Joey Gomez Ricks of Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Austin Ivester officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2015.
