Jimmie Allison

Jimmie Allison, age 77, of Cornelia, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Mr. Allison was born on September 16, 1943 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Griff and Mary Sue Merck Allison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward Allison; grandson, Blake Allison; brothers, Sammy Allison, Clyde Allison; sisters, Ann Taylor, and Donna Lyndsey. Mr. Allison was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Cornelia, where he had served as a deacon. He was retired from Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute where he served as a Correctional Officer for 20 years. Jimmie loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was known to his grandchildren as "Papa". Jimmie was one of the most friendly people you could meet, he never met a stranger. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Lynnette Allison, of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Lori Allison, of Cornelia; Chris and Tracy Allison, of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Griff Allison, Brittany Allison, Mason Allison, and Skylar Allison. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday April 30, 2021 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Michael Ross and Mr. Larry Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the funeral home.
