Jiles E. "Dock" Allen

JILES E. "DOCK" ALLEN, age 91, of Habersham Mills Road, Demorest, GA, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Habersham County medical Center. Mr. Allen was born on April 18, 1917 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Raleigh Howard and Julia Louise Benfield Allen. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters: Ann Darnell, Versie Watkins, Nathalie Terrell, and Dallie Cragg as well as his brothers, Robert Allen, Cecil Allen, Hubert Allen, Vivian Allen, and Paul B. Allen. Mr. Allen was a member of the Habersham Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II. He was an Ordained Baptist Minister and was formerly Pastor at Cross Roads Baptist Church, Alto Baptist Church and Glade Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Allen was a retire supervisor with Russell Corporation, Habersham Mills. Survivors include: his wife: Grace Wiggins Allen, Demorest, GA; his daughter and son-in-law: Julia Mae Allen Porterfield and Robert Porterfield, Newport News, VA; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 from the Habersham Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Payne, Rev. Matthew Thomas, and Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Habersham Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. Mr. Allen will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday to lie in state until the funeral hour. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Habersham Baptist Church, P.O.
