James Louis Puckett Ii

James Louis Puckett II, age 72, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016. Mr. Puckett was born on September 4, 1944, in Hapeville, Georgia, to the late Louis and Josephine Puckett. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Gaston. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Mr. Puckett was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a retired employee of State Farm Insurance Company. He was an active member of Cornelia United Methodist Church. He enjoyed volunteer work and was a great supporter of UGA Athletics. He was a beloved, kind, and generous gentleman and a great husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Kay Irvin Puckett, Demorest, GA; daughters and sons-in-law: Julie and David Arthur, Ball Ground, GA, Kristi and Ray Myers, Brookhaven, GA, and Amanda and Larry Ferguson, Cornelia, GA; daughter, Laura Gruszczinski, Clarkesville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Mac Crow, Dalton, GA; brother-in-law, Harling Gaston, Dacula, GA; and seven grandchildren: Pate and Abbie Arthur, Jack and Reid Myers, Ava Gruszczinski, and Hank and Whit Ferguson. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Cornelia United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil DeMore and Rev. Johnny Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
