James C. Bloodworth

JAMES C. BLOODWORTH, age 83, of Clarkesville, GA died Monday, May 1, 2006 at Habersham Medical Center, Demorest, GA. Mr. Bloodworth was born on December 29, 1922 in Turner County, Georgia. He was a son of the late George M. Bloodworth and Vera McCord Bloodworth and was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Lewis Bloodworth. Mr. Bloodworth was a United States Merchant Marine Veteran having served from 1941 - 1945 during World War II. He was a member of the Hazel Creek Baptist Church and volunteered with Sharing and Caring, Habitat for Humanity, and the Scuppernong Retreat. Mr. Bloodworth was a Mason and a member of the Ben Hill Lodge. Survivors include: his wife: Mary Hornsby Bloodworth, Clarkesville, GA; Sister-in-law: Martha H. Hemperley, Fayetteville, GA; Brother-in-law and wife: James C. and Gayle Hornsby, Hendersonville, TN; Niece and husband: Elaine H. and John Sugg, Tyrone, GA; Nephew and wife: Joseph R. and Cathy Hornsby, Madison, TN. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 from the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Trent Smith and Rev. Paul Wright officiating. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 243 Hazel Creek Church Road, Mt. Airy, GA, 30563, or to a charity of one's choice. ARRANGEMENTS ARE IN THE CARE OF WHITFIELD FUNERAL HOME, SOUTH CHAPEL, BALDWIN, GEORGIA.
