Jack Russell Porter

Mr. Jack Russell Porter, age 70 of Cornelia passed away on Friday, January 09, 2009 at his residence. Born in Loganville, Georgia on March 02, 1938, he was a son of the late Wilkins Haynie and Bessie Minnell Hammond Porter. Mr. Porter grew up in Jefferson, Georgia graduating from Jackson County High School and also from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis and later retired as Senior Vice-President of the First National Bank of Habersham with over 30 years of service. Mr. Porter was a member of the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720, the Cornelia Masonic Lodge # 92 F& AM, and was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Danielle Rangier Porter, Cornelia, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Monique and David Johns, Flowery Branch, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Dawn Porter, Clermont, GA; sisters, Annis McClure, Jefferson, GA; Grace Dalrymple, Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Jordyn Porter and Kreed Coley, both of Clermont. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel in Baldwin with the Rev. Phillip Williams officiating. Mr. Porter's wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday.
